If my pet has had a condition in the past, how long do I have to wait for it to be covered again?

The reviewable  timeframe for covering a temporary pre-existing condition depends on its severity. For some conditions, it can be as short as 2 months. We assess each temporary pre-existing condition on a case-by-case basis. Minor conditions generally have shorter reviewable timeframes, while more serious ones will have longer timeframes .

Here’s how it works:

Request a Pre-Existing Condition Assessment: You can request an assessment based on your pet's medical history. We’ll review the information from your vet and assign a reviewable timeframe for the temporary pre-existing condition.

Symptom-Free Period: Your pet needs to be symptom-free during this timeframe. We’ll need medical evidence from a vet to confirm that the condition has been fully resolved.

Lifting an Exclusion: If your pet hasn't shown any signs or symptoms of a curable condition for a specified period, you can apply to have the exclusion lifted for that condition. We’ll let you know the earliest date you can request a review and what supporting information we’ll need.

Permanent Exclusions: Some conditions, especially chronic ones, might not be reviewable and will be permanently excluded from coverage. Remember, exclusions are not automatically removed at the end of the reviewable timeframe. We need sufficient medical evidence to confirm the pre-existing condition has been successfully treated, cured or resolved.
