Do you cover behavioural conditions?

Yes, we cover behavioural conditions for pets under three years old when you select to include it as an Optional Extra Benefits under your policy. Behavioural conditions are illnesses or medical conditions resulting from your pet’s abnormal, dysfunctional, or unusual actions or temperament. Examples include excessive licking, fur pulling, pacing, destructive chewing, anxiety, aggression, and obsessive behaviours.

If your pet develops an illness due to anxiety or aggression, such as hair loss or a skin infection from excessive licking, it would be considered a behavioural condition.

For behavioural conditions to be eligible for coverage, a licensed vet (not a puppy trainer, puppy school teacher, pet trainer, or breeder) must diagnose these conditions.

Please note, behavioural conditions coverage cannot be purchased as a standalone benefit. It’s part of the Optional Extra Benefits, which also include Specialised Therapies and Dental Illness.

There is a 6-month exclusion period for behavioural conditions, and pre-existing conditions relating to behavioural conditions are not covered.
