No, dog training costs are not covered, even if recommended by a vet.
What you need to know about coverage for behavioural conditions:
What’s Covered: If your pet displays signs of anxiety, aggression, or other abnormal behaviours like excessive licking or fur pulling, our policy can help with the costs of diagnostics, medication and treatments. This may include sessions with a behavioural specialist, prescription medications, and other necessary treatments to manage conditions such as phobias, separation anxiety, excessive barking, and destructive behaviours.
More about the behavioural condition coverage:
- Vet Diagnosed: Coverage only applies to conditions diagnosed by a licensed vet. Diagnoses by trainers, puppy school teachers or breeders aren’t covered.
- Exclusion Period: There's a 6-month exclusion period for behavioural conditions coverage. This period must be passed without any symptoms before coverage begins.
- Pre-existing Conditions: Conditions that existed before the end of the exclusion periods are not covered.
- Coverage Age Limit: Optional Extra Benefits for behavioural conditions are only available as an add-on for pets younger than 3 years old at the time of the application for Optional Extra Benefits.
What’s not covered:
- Vet consultations if you've opted out of the vet consultations coverage.
- Costs for training or training-related devices.
- Puppy preschool or socialisation classes.
- Pheromone therapy and supplements.
- Merchandise like thunder shirts or special harnesses.
