What if I don't know my pet's breed?

If you're unsure of your pet's breed, you can select "unknown dog breed" or "unknown cat breed" from our dropdown menu when applying for a pet insurance quote. A visit to your veterinarian or conducting a DNA test can also help to determine your pet's ancestry.

For mixed breed dogs, please choose the most dominant breed you recognise in your pet and select the crossbreed option. If your pet's breed does not appear in our list, please contact us at hello@petsy.com.au for assistance.

Please note, our insurance is intended for companion pets. We do not cover guard, security, working dogs engaged in fighting or coursing, or working gun dogs. Additionally, we do not provide cover for certain breeds banned in Australia, like American Pitt Bull Terriers and Japanese Tosa, among others, and wild or hybrid wild cats.

We do insure show dogs, search and rescue dogs, guide dogs, assistance dogs, and sniffer dogs, domesticated cats and former racing dogs that have been rehomed.
